FAQ

Q: No AAX? / When will you support AAX?

A: No, we don’t offer our plugins in AAX format. Although we may consider doing so in the future, we also don’t want to encourage/participate in the restrictive policies necessary to develop and use the format. There are currently some (paid) solutions to using VSTs in ProTools, including DDMF’s Metaplugin and Blue Cat Audio’s Patchwork.

Alternatively, you could help urge Avid/ProTools to support the CLAP plugin format. Technical specifics aside, CLAP’s open, accessible, and freely-licensed nature represents the future of plugin standards, period. It would be better for ProTools' longevity for them to adopt this format rather than die on the hill of AAX. Just my two cents.

Q: I bought a plugin, where can I download it?

A: The installers for plugins can always be downloaded from their product pages. Additionally, in your email receipt there will be download links.

Q: Where do I find my license key?

A: When you complete a purchase, the FastSpring checkout will display a license key to you. Your email receipt will also contain the license key.

Q: Can I get a refund?

A: Maybe. See our refunds policy for more info.

Q: License activation isn’t working / The plugin keeps prompting me to activate

A: If the license activation is returning as an invalid license, make sure there are no spaces before or after the license key when you’re entering it. If you have verified that the license is typed in exactly as it was sent to you, it could be a problem with your DAW allowing a connection to the internet. Check to make sure that your DAW is allowed to access the internet in your firewall settings or app permissions. If it won’t work after numerous attempts, please contact us.

If the plugin successfully activates, but then keeps prompting you every time you add it on a new track, this is probably a bug due to an upgrade/change to your system that causes the plugin to think the license key is invalid.

On Windows, navigate to User>AppData>Roaming>Arboreal Audio>PluginName>License

On macOS, navigate to User>Library>Arboreal Audio>PluginName>License

NOTE IF YOU ONLY USE GARAGEBAND: The file location will be in User>Music>Audio Music Apps>Arboreal Audio>PluginName>License

There should be a file called “license.aal”. Delete this and run the activation again. If the behavior persists, please contact us. We can also reset your activation count if you’ve activated more times than necessary.

Q: My “best friend” has gotten ahold of my license key and ran up my activations when they gave it to their 9-piece post-rock band. Can you reset the number of activations/punish my friend?

A: That’s really too bad, we’re sorry. Although punishing your friend might be out of the realm of our abilities, we can reset the number of activations used on your license.

Q: Can I give my license key to my friend(s)?

A: While you certainly can, we’d prefer that you didn’t. Our plugins are meant to be affordable, and we hope that will drive people to refer their friends to buy it rather than sharing it outright.

Q: Do you accept crypto?

A: I don’t know what that is.
